Character Name: Tony Stark
Canon: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Canon Point: Post-Endgame
Background: Wiki
Suitability: Tony is a genius who loves to solve problems. That's not necessarily an indicator that he's good at solving the big problems, but he has a hard time turning a blind eye to things that he knows he could be useful at solving. He would love diving into research about the Singularity and the old gods, and honestly would love to contribute modernizing the heck out of the place with his crazy engineering skills.
Past his general base talents, Tony has difficulty fully walking away from people who need help. He has little patience for people who think they can rule over others, or make swathing decisions about the fate of others without other involvement. He's tried, time and time again, to get other people, the people who are supposed to be in charge, to protect Earth. When they fail, though, Tony steps up to do the right thing with little hesitation. I think he'd be very well suited to identifying who are the people to "trust" in Abraxas, and trying to steer the game to a place where everyone (including the people back home) are safe and sound.
Powers: Tony is a normal old human who is a genius that loves to build crazy powerful suits. He has no supernatural powers.
PERSONALITY QUESTIONS
Describe an important event in your character's life and how it impacted them. The single most important thing that happened in Tony's life was being kidnapped and seeing the ramifications of his father's legacy. Witnessing his own weapons and technology being used to murder innocent people changed the trajectory of his life forever. Most people would shrivel up and quit, at your axis of morality being flipped -- or, worse, be tempted to just continue selling swords to profit off of innocent deaths. Tony did neither, and instead chose to fight to make the world a better place by completely rehabbing Stark Industries and becoming Iron Man.
It's also important to note that while Tony has had moments of regretting picking up the suit, he always goes back to being able to do the right thing. He feels responsible for rehabbing the Stark family name and for undoing the sins of his father's war machine. He feels responsible for being able to do something to protect the universe. He finds it hard to totally walk away, even when given the opportunity to do so. At the end of it, Tony just wants to do what is right -- which is the entire reason why he became Iron Man in the first place.
Does your character have a moral code, or other set of standards they try to live by? At the end of the day, Tony Stark always tries to do what's right. He completely fucks it up, on occasion. He's stubborn, single-minded, and focused on the end-goal of creating a world where the Avengers are never necessary. In a perfect world, he would quit, and be able to quit. And god, he tries - even after Thanos destroys one-half of the known universe, Tony attempts to move on, live his life. He gets married, has a kid, and tries to move past the failure -- but he gets dragged back in, once he figures out there's a way to save the universe, and he is the key to doing it. Why? Because it's the right thing to do.
What quality or qualities do they admire most? Tony deeply admires determination and adaptability. It's one of the reasons why he becomes so attached to Peter Parker - he recognizes that Peter has the capacity and ability to be something great. But it's not just that -- Peter took matters into his own hands when he was granted a gift to protect people. And, no matter how many times they argue and fight, Tony deeply admires Steve Roger's steeled determination to always do the right thing, even when Tony disagrees with him vehemently. You can't get anywhere without being determined to pave the path first.
Do they have a part of themselves they dislike? Tony can be endlessly selfish, consistently picking his own safety and security in the short-term to avoid the struggle of being a hero. He can be purposefully cruel, deliberately shoving the knife directly where he knows it hurts, when he's feeling particularly vengeful. And Tony can be a coward, in the moment -- wanting desperately to return to a time before he was Iron Man. While he never totally surrenders to any of these flaws, Tony can recognize that they're pieces of himself he grossly dislikes.
What is their sign, and why? Magician. Tony is a brilliant engineer who has invented a plethora of things, including his suit and time travel. When he's determined to figure something out, he has a single-minded focus on said thing. Nothing can distract him from his goal when he's decided he wants to solve a problem. It's almost like a type of mania, when Tony has latched his fingers onto something -- he continues pushing, and pushing, and pushing (sometimes to his own detriment) in order to figure it out, to fix it, to create it, whatever it is. Magician is the best sign suited to him for this reason.
