God Houses: My primary choice for Tony is Odin, due to Tony's (1) intelligence; (2) remaking of Stark Industries from a war empire to something to benefit all of humanity; (3) spreading of information and technology; and (4) the need to learn, to grow, and become better. My backup choice for Tony is Heimdall, as Tony (though he is a general screw-up and can make selfish decisions) constantly seeks to protect people, defend the universe, and will choose the greater good over himself every single time . . . or, at least, when it counts the most.

Personality: When most people first meet Tony Stark, they tend not to like him. Mostly because Tony is arrogant, catty, snide, blustering, and acts as if he doesn't take much seriously. He is quick with an insult and quick to dismiss opinions that he feels aren't worthwhile, especially if they come from a position of authority. There is usually one way, or the highway, for Tony Stark . . . or, at least, there was, before it went horribly wrong.

Tony, out of all of the Avengers, has experienced the most dynamic character growth. He began as a spoiled rich kid who didn't give a damn about anybody but himself, and ended as a hero. And perhaps what makes Tony Stark a hero is the fact that he never really wanted to be the hero. Sure, he threw out the cue cards and said he was Iron Man, but when he actually had to be the hero, he quickly realized that he was not built for it. He endured countless wars, fights, battles, and arguments with the people he loved and superpowered aliens who wanted to kill him, and every single time, Tony came to the determination that he needed to get out.

But it's not that easy: Tony, below the witticisms and the anger, is loyal. Tony is a member of the Avengers, a collection of individuals with superpowers (or superskills) built to defend the world -- and that's something Tony takes seriously. Through PTSD, trauma, nearly dying, nearly having his friends die, nearly having his girlfriend-then-fiance-then-wife die, and nearly causing the end of the world... at least three times, Tony would go to the end of the world for his friends . . . and has, culminating in his self-sacrifice to save the universe from Thanos' dominion.

It's a long road, though, to being a hero. Tony can be endlessly selfish, consistently picking his own safety and security in the short-term to avoid the struggle of being a hero. He can be purposefully cruel, deliberately shoving the knife directly where he knows it hurts, when he's feeling particularly vengeful. And Tony can be a coward, in the moment -- wanting desperately to return to a time before he was Iron Man. But he never totally surrenders to any of these flaws.

After all, Tony is a genius. He invented time travel, for God's sake. He has something to give to the world, even if he's the world's most insufferable screw-up. He built that suit in a cave with a box of scraps, goddammit. And Tony Stark isn't meant to hide all of that away; no, he's meant to defend the universe with everything he's got. Nobody else on the Avengers can build a freaking time machine from quasi-scratch.

At the end of the day, Tony Stark always tries to do what's right. He completely fucks it up, on occasion. He's stubborn, single-minded, and focused on the end-goal of creating a world where the Avengers are never necessary. In a perfect world, he would quit, and be able to quit. And god, he tries - even after Thanos destroys one-half of the known universe, Tony attempts to move on, live his life. He gets married, has a kid, and tries to move past the failure -- but he gets dragged back in, once he figures out there's a way to save the universe, and he is the key to doing it. Why? Because it's the right thing to do.

Even if it ends in his own death. Even if he has to give up everything in order to ensure the universe is safe. Even if he has to give up everything he has ever wanted, dreamed of, worked for. Tony will do it. He may bitch and moan along the way, but he will do it.

Why? Because it's the right thing to do.

After all, Tony has a heart. He can't ever just stop when the universe is at stake.
